Imagination, sensitivity and artistic culture, an ability to adapt to new techniques... But above all : an ability to listen, understand and react to the project or vision of a creative artist, whether a director for stage or cinema or a photographer...
It is necessary to learn the techniques of the profession but also to know and understand the strucure of the profession : the organisation of a film set, the layout of a script, the importance of light or even the different types of cinema equipment; the choice of a team for a fashion show, the role of the make-up and hairdressing agencies or bookers, the place of photographers in the press and advertising.
To become a good professional, you have to be capable of responding, even anticipating all the needs and demands of an artistic production.
This profession assumes an ability to adapt to technical evolutions; to be available and attentive to actors, desingers, photographers and all the other members of the crew. It requires good artistic culture to understand the requests of directors, stylists or producers.
Apart from techniques, the ITM trains the future make-up artists to use their imagination and their creativity through drawing, painting and modeling workshops. In this way they develop their own style and contribute to the design and creation of characters.
Spending time with actors, technicians, directors and photographers is the best way to understand their work.
