1) How many years of study does the training require?

 The duration of the studies is 2 years. At the end of these 2 years, certain students can continue their training for a complementary year in order to perfect their abilities and prepare their entry into professional life as well as possible. For the “Creation and make-up” workshops, the duration of the sessions is between 4 hours and 2 weeks.

2) What level of studies and what prior training is necessary to enroll in the school?
 |
 Admission is open to students who hold a baccalaureate or equivalent, whatever the specialization. For those who have followed a different academic education, it is possible to enroll in the foundation year at the Atelier Albers in the same premises. 3) Is it imperative to have artistic training to enroll at the ITM?
 |
 To enroll in the make-up artist course, it is not indispensable to have prior artistic training. It is a plus! However, it is necessary to possess an artistic sensibility because the make-up artist’s working method is close to that of an artist. He or she often needs to imagine and create characters, work with shadow and light, colors and volumes. At the ITM, the training therefore includes classes in drawing, painting, modeling and art history.

4) What status (private/public) does the school have?
 |
 ITM is a higher level private technical educational establishment recognized by the French Ministry of Education. The training course entitles those enrolled to student status and student social security.

5) How much are the fees? Do loan or payment facilities exist?
 |
 The annual fees for the “Professional Artistic Make-up” course for the year 2007/2008 come to 5695 euros. These are payable in several installments. The ITM has moreover formed a partnership with the BNP Bank enabling students to benefit from preferential interest rate on loans. 6) What are the admission conditions?

 Admission to the ITM is based on an interview. Applicant must present themselves with their academic qualifications as well as any other document that may add to their application. They can present drawings, paintings, photos or any other materials of their choice. Applications should be presented as early as possible. Registrations open from the month of January.

7) When was the ITM founded? Who was it founded by?
 |
 It was created in 1985, upon the initiative of a great cinema chief make-up artist: Aïda Carange. (See her filmography)

9) What companies are partners with the school?

Every year, ITM signs new partnerships with production companies, televisions, theaters, cinema, fashion and photo schools, and cosmetics companies. The objective is to establish long term collaborations. To consulter the list of the main partners, click on Partners.

10) What are the various specializations proposed by the ITM?
 |
 At the ITM, all the sectors of make-up are dealt with: cinema, fashion, theater, television. In second year, a 40 to 50 hour module enables students to specialize. The options on offer are as follows: Special effects with prosthesis (SFX), Fashion trend (Mode), Make-up consulting (Consulting), Corrective and repair make-up (Maqco), Airbrush make-up (Aéro).

11) What are the conditions means of access for non-French students?
 |
 Every year, the ITM enrolls foreign students representing around 25 nationalities. In certain countries (China, Poland, Russia…), the ITM has set up partnerships with information and orientation institutions which enable applicants to fulfill the admission formalities on site in their own countries. To find out the addresses of these institutions, telephone the ITM’s secretarial office or consult the page Services for foreign students. Applicants from other countries can send their applications by post or by e-mail (application letter, diplomas and if desired photos of their drawings or paintings). They will then receive a pre-registration pack which will enable them to carry out the administrative formalities (visa request and so on). It should be noted that the conditions for residence in France vary according to the country of origin.

13) What have ITM graduates gone on to do in their professional careers?
 |
 Examples of creations, participations in shows, movie shoots, advertisements, TV shows, etc. ITM remains in contact with its past students. Certain students, after significant career experience as professional make-up artists (cinema, theater, fashion, television…), return to the school to pass on the know-how acquired on movie sets, plays or fashion shows. Others take on students as trainees and give them an opportunity to assist at various events. Regular information on the careers of graduates is transmitted via the school newsletter: ITM News. 14) Where can I meet the ITM's pedagogical team (upcoming fairs, information days)?
 |
 An ITM team, accompanied by students, is generally present at the Parisian student fairs (Education Fair, Artistic Training Fair, Student Fair, Studyrama Fair …). It remains available to answer all of your questions. Moreover, the students present at the fairs do demonstrations in various domains of make-up. You can see them working and creating characters through the whole day. The school reception is open from 8.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. A pedagogical assistant can welcome you and show you around the premises upon appointment. 16) What is the school calendar (dates for the start and end of classes)?
 |
 The beginning of the school year generally takes place in the first week of October, with first year classes continuing to the end of May. A 6 week training placement is then planned. The second year program starts at the beginning of October and lasts to the end of June. Training placements take place in March and May in 2nd year. The third year follows a different rhythm, alternating theoretical classes and training placements all through the year.

18) Does the school provide short training courses outside of the traditional course (initial or continued)?

 ITM has set up “Creation and Make-up” workshops intended for individuals. These are training courses whose purpose is to train individuals to develop their personal or professional skills: Make-up Discovery Week for beginners, Self-make-up, natural make-up, evening make-up, Body painting, mature ladies make-up, image consulting, etc… These workshops do not all require special prior knowledge. They essentially aim to refresh professional skills and know-how and to discover new technology such as the airbrush, and new special effects techniques for example.
