Fashion is a spectacle in itself. To be convinced of this, it suffices to see the effervescence it creates during the period of the shows. The make-up artist is a key character in this great staging of beauty. For fashion shows, the designer reflects on a make-up style that is in harmony with the clothes and the atmosphere of the collection. To feel the evolutions, to be attentive to trends and “the street”, to know how to suggest new ideas and, of course, to be a perfect “technician” are essential qualities which a fashion make-up artist must possess. When they have made it to the top, the great make-up artists work before the creation of new ranges with the greatest cosmetics manufacturers. All the ITM students receive instruction in fashion make-up. The reinforcement of classes in fashion is intended for second year students whose priority it is to work in the backstage of photo shoots, catwalks and fashion shows. The objective is to make them aware of this sector of activities and to give them the creativity, the technical skills and the speed which will enable them to be hired by designers and stylists. This class leads them to create their own “look” and make-ups that are coherent with the current and coming styles. The students have the opportunity to do trainee placements with young stylists or big fashion names, notably through the intermediary of make-up artist agencies.
